Affiliate Truths

Can anyone ever create wealth with all these affiliate programs?

The following is my horoscope for today, August 19, 2008, from My Yahoo:

When opportunity knocks on your door, you don't always have to open it. Be careful not to become a person who always says 'yes' because you think being busy is always a good way to be. It's time to get a lot more particular about what you get involved with. You don't have the time, energy or resources to hop on every bandwagon that comes your way. Think about advanced ideas and how to get there. This will free you up to truly understand which opportunities to take and which to leave.

I want to elaborate on this some. So let me break it down...

But first, I do not think this is an actual horoscope reading, but real wisdom that needs passing on to the community. So, here goes my interpretation...

When opportunity knocks on your door, you don't always have to open it.

This is true, but your really need to look out the door and see what the opportunity is. For some people opporrtunity only knocks once or twice. These people need to open that door and let opportunity into their lives.

But for others who are open to the ways of the universe and using the Laws of Attraction, these people seemingly have opportunity knocking several times a day. That is a good thing for them, but they have to know how to identify the bigger opportunities from the ones that consume more resources (time and money).

Be careful not to become a person who always says 'yes' because you think being busy is always a good way to be.

And on the other hand, there is a saying, "If you want something done, ask a busy person." Busy people seemingly accomplish more in their lives, but I feel this is true only if they are goal directed.

Busy people doing busy work are just wasting their lives. Another saying is, "Work expands to the length of time you have to do it." I have seen federal employees who work by the hour driving trucks at 5 to 10 MPH instead of the speed limit. They are wasting their time, their lives, and my tax dollars.

It's time to get a lot more particular about what you get involved with.

For those of us who open ourselves to an endless stream of opportunities, we have to pick and carefully choose where we spend our valuable resources.

Are you worth $100 an hour? $500 an hour? $1,000 an hour? If so, then STOP doing $5 an hour work! If you are worth $1,000 an hour then pick those opportunities that pay you that, and then only do those tasks that are woth that. For the less paying tasks, hire someone to do them.

You don't have the time, energy or resources to hop on every bandwagon that comes your way.

Very, very true. I am a member of the USAF Sergeants' Association, The Retired Enlisted Association, AARP, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the National Marfans Foundation, National Rifle Association, and a Master Mason. I also mentor several people in my professional life, a couple people on these sites, and a couple more in my private life. I have this networking site plus several more sites that I set up and manage. I also own two companies; an online travel agency and a new IT consulting firm. I do not have the time or energy to pursue all the opportunities that come my way. I am a very busy person.

Oh, as a member of all these organizations and sites, I am really pretty good at networking. This network I have established is constantly sending opportunities my way. The saying, "Find a need and fill it." is always on my mind, because I am OPEN to receiving opportunites from the universe.

Think about advanced ideas and how to get there. This will free you up to truly understand which opportunities to take and which to leave.

Open your mind, network, select your personal per hour value, open yourself to receiving opportunities from the universe, be selfish with your time and energies, and be selective of the opportunities that come your way.

One last thing; Thomas Edison said that ideas come from space. If you do not receive them or act on them, then the ideas are given to others and your ability to receive lessens. It will continue to lessen until your mind is closed to ideas.

Have an excellent day! I always do.

Oh, and today is my beautiful wife's birthday! Yes, that is her photo on my pictures.

Hi Steve. What a great post. Thanks for sharing that with us. Funnily enough, I've just posted a comment on Facebook in response to a post titled "Focus Focus Focus" - very similiar topic! Must be the order of the day. Maybe it is the universe's way of telling me to get some "real" work done today, hey?! lol

The great thing about ideas is to write them down or record them with dictaphone, because these ideas you will need one day anyway. And anything that happens with you is taking you to greater and more abundant life.
Those ideas that are needed for you right away will blink with good feelings in your chest, because feelings are the great signal. Just don't ever give up on anything, and don't do two jobs simultaneously, and if you have a lot of work - just relax and say to yourself: "I am so happy and grateful now that I do things easy, I advance more and more, and I have lots of spare time".
Find yourself an organizer, and forget about all work for that day to organize yourself. You will find that it's great to write down all tasks and ideas in one place and not to hold them inside your head. After that you will understand where to start...
And there's another trick that just works so great, you can't imagine! I'll tell you a story about me.
When I was working as a system administrator, I had a lot of tasks in my organizer, they were even sorted as High priority, normal and low priority tasks. And I was always afraid, that I will never finish them. Then I watched The Secret, and I thought: "What if I will be writing tasks in past tense?". Like: "I've reinstalled proxy server and it works great". So I tried that. Also I made a screenshot of my Microsoft Outlook tasks list, which was cleaned before taking screenshot, so there were no tasks at all. Then the time passes, before one of my vacations I opened Outlook, and I was amazed - "THERE WERE NO TASKS ACTUALLY". I felt so great about it. It really helps you a lot, because you KNOW that you have finished it. :)

Good luck to you all!

Hi Steve -

I am with you all the way, although I must confess to having taken the longway to get to this point. I don't subscribe to the saying: You can't teach an old horse new tricks!

For a learning experience I joined as an affiliate in the Travel sector, since my working career was in the Travel/Hospitality Industries ... since age 16. After two year I finally gave it up (late this spring).

In the years since I first started, the interaction between suppliers and consumers has changed. I didn't like some of the impersonal format structured into the system. I was trained for giving good personal service ... one on one! This was in the days when airlines still used real silver cutlery, Royal Doulton dishwares, and Irish Linen place-mats and serviettes.
When travelling P&O, Cunard or Orient Line, was the preference over flying.

My new "Opportunity" literally knocked on my head It has been a long tough haul since then to get me to where I am today. In retrospect I see what happened as the preparation for changing my Niche which I am currently in the process of doing. To accomplish this I have put into action that which you have suggested:

"Open your mind, network, select your personal per hour value, open yourself to receiving opportunities from the universe, be selfish with your time and energies, and be selective of the opportunities that come your way."

Thank you for your sharing to eliminate any doubts that I was harboring.

Gary
